Egoli Project 4000 Update
Egoli Project 4000 raises more than R400 000,00!

M-Net’s popular daily drama Egoli broadcast its 4000th episode on Friday 03 August 2007. Egoli, and South Africa’s favourite flame-grilled burger specialists, Steers, created a scrumptious limited edition 'Egoli Burger' to raise funds for this initiative, called Project 4000.

On, Saturday 4 August, between 9:00 and 17:00, the 'Egoli Burger' was sold at all Steers restaurants throughout the country. Many of the Egoli stars were also on duty at various Steers outlets, signing autographs, and of course promoting the sales of 'Egoli Burgers'.

R7 from the sale of each burger (costing only R20) was donated to JAM. M-Net also donated another R10 to the first 4000 Egoli Burgers sold.

On the 31 August 2007; Egoli stars Shaleen Sutie-Richards and Hannes van Wyk together with producers from Franz Marx Films, Steers and M-Net visited Orange Farm to donate R429 887,50 to JAM. A staggering 51 920 burgers were sold at all Steers outlets nationwide. The total funds raised include funds donated via sms on the 3rd August.

This money will be used to help alleviate poverty in South Africa through the following programs:

• Provision of a daily school meal to 614 children for a full year
• Assisting 100 families, including the elderly and people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, with a highly nutritious and well balanced monthly food pack.

JAM wishes to thank Egoli, Steers and M-net for partnering in celebrating the 4000th episode of Egoli in such a special way, and thank you to the many thousands of people who supported this initiative by buying an Egoli burger on Saturday 4 August 2007 - thank you for your support!
