SOUTHERN SUDAN'S
CURRENT WATER CRISIS
After a recent visit to Southern Sudan, CEO and Founder of
JAM, Peter Pretorius commented...
“I
was shocked to see the huge problems that these people
experience in order to obtain clean water or in fact, any
water. The situation is so serious that it is causing
conflict between the different villages and tribal factions.
At least 85% of the children are seriously malnourished and
suffering from dehydration. Many have no clothing. It broke
my heart to see the children lying on their stomachs
drinking river water that you and I would never drink.”
These people have nothing, not even the bare essentials. The
children are in a shocking state which further confirms the
enormity and importance of the work JAM does.
JAM
has a small drilling rig in Southern Sudan but this means we
are not able to reach the deep water tables in many areas.
JAM plans to utilise its bigger drilling rigs to establish
boreholes in all these areas. To do this, we need financial
resources. JAM runs feeding programmes in many of these
villages but need to increase these drastically to meet the
needs of the children. We have people and truck transport on
the ground and an established field base in Boma, Southern
Sudan. Cash resources are needed to increase the work.
Your contributions enable us to expand the work in Sudan
reaching these precious people in need.
